Our New Campaign 2016 - Please Read

Hoofprints is a riding school full of RSPCA rescue ponies who face an uncertain future if we don't raise the money.  We want to offer future projects to underprivileged children.  Offer both adults and children a structured programme that offers help and support to depression and mental health issues.  Horses are amazing animals who have not only stood by us through many wars but now offer us a sense of calmness, wellbeing and proven to aid the recovery of many who suffer mental illness and depression.

We are based on rented land and desperately need to buy our own as we face an uncertain future and want these horses to have a forever home.  We can continue our good work rehabilitating neglected horses and teach children from all kinds of backgrounds how to care for them creating a sense of responsibility, wellbeing, fitness, and teamwork.
With your help we can adopt another homeless pony who otherwise faces no future and achieve security and get future projects off the ground.
Please help us secure Hoofprints for our community
If everyone contributed just £1 we would hit our target and save Hoofprints.

We are seeking sponsorship to help the local Riding School ‘Hoofprints’ to rehabilitate horses that have been a result of abuse and neglect.  Hoofprints needs the money to buy a horse walker to enable us to get the horses to full strength, by walking for 30 mins a day they can become really strong, all the horses that arrive are in a very weak state as a result of abuse and starvation and cannot be ridden for quite some time.  Slow walking exercise is what is required, and as you can appreciate very time consuming.  With a horse walker at any one time 4 horses can be walking while time is spent on training others and yard duties.  Each horse takes at least 6 months to a year to get to full strength after rescuing, and require very light walking exercise each day to gain strength.

Hoofprints is a riding school based in Gawcott near Buckingham and in 18 months we have rehabilitated 10 horses to full strength and some have gone off competing.  The horses that are suitable for our riding school stay and teach children to ride and have fun, also teaching young people the importance of caring for a horse and enjoying the outdoors.

Not only has Hoofprints helped many horses so far we have built a team of young people around Buckingham who now enjoy being outside during the weekends and school holidays instead of sitting around on computers.  They learn about the importance of team work, achievement, hard work and responsibility.

You will see below just a few of our welfare cases, you can clearly see the ‘before’ and ‘after’ pictures.  The ‘after’ pictures were taken about a year after the rescue took place.  Rehabilitation takes a long time.

Bobby was found tethered in a rubbish tip, he was left starving and full of worms.  He was a lucky one of four found that day at the tip as one of the horses had to be put to sleep.

Bobby today, you can see below how lovely he is, he likes cuddles and looks after even the smallest children on his back. He is now at Hoofprints teaching children to ride, he has a new Mum who loves him so much and he has taken part in sponsored rides, Cross country and showjumping.

Nikki

Nikki was abandoned heavily pregnant with a foal at foot still suckling.  She was starved, full of lice and was terribly sore on her feet.  Here you can see her ribs through her fluffy winter coat, even though she is due to have a foal, behind her is the baby that was still suckling.  Nikki was terribly weak and managed, with strong will, to survive against all the odds.  Nikki and her foal were successfully rescued by the RSPCA.

Nikki lives at Hoofprints, so does her foal ‘Joey’ now owned by Kelly Smith.  The unborn baby was born at the RSPCA centre ‘Connie’ and also lives at Hoofprints.  Below you can see how Nikki looks today, she was brought back into light work in 2014.  She was so weak and took a long time to gain strength.  Since then Nikki has been out competing in Dressage and taken part in a sponsored ride.

See Nikki now, what a difference, she is so kind and beautiful.

JR

JR was rescued from a waste land, tethered, starved, and still a stallion.  He was 5 years old and in a terrible state.  He you can clearly see the terrible conditions he was left in, and so awfully thin.

JR was rescued by the RSPCA in 2013 and came to live at Hoofprints in Dec 2013.  He was still very weak and had to be castrated on top of everything else.  See below.

Below you can that 18 months on JR has blossomed into a fantastic little jumping pony.  He has been out competing at dressage, showjumping and schooled XC and he just loves it! He is a cheeky happy chap and despite being castrated still loves the ladies! JR lives at Hoofprints and teaches the more experienced people how to ride, he is keen to work and please.  Here is showing of his rosettes.
